Intel-McAfee Deal Wins FTC OK, Still Faces EU Scrutiny

Law360, New York (December 22, 2010, 1:13 PM EST) -- U.S. antitrust regulators have approved Intel Corp.'s $7.7 billion acquisition of computer security software maker McAfee Inc., while European officials continue to scrutinize the deal.

According to a statement Monday from Intel Vice President for Investor Relations Kevin Sellers, the Federal Trade Commission has signed off on the deal. The transaction has encountered close scrutiny from European competition authorities that could delay its completion, the Wall Street Journal reported.
