France Fines Traffic Supply Cos. €53M In Cartel Probe

Law360, New York (December 23, 2010, 2:24 PM EST) -- France's competition watchdog has fined eight companies nearly €53 million ($69.5 million) for allegedly operating a bid-rigging cartel to supply road signs, lights and safety equipment to nearly every municipality in the country for almost a decade.

The French Competition Authority also fined two other companies, Solidor SA and 3M Co.'s French unit, about €2.2 million on Wednesday for abusing their dominance for certain products used to make traffic signs.
