Kia Off Hook In Suit Over Fatal Fla. Crash

Law360, New York (December 23, 2010, 5:10 PM EST) -- A Florida jury has found that Kia Motors Corp. is not liable for an alleged roof defect that supposedly contributed to the death of a young boy when a 2005 Kia Spectra overturned during a car crash.

The Lee County, Fla., jury reached the verdict Tuesday night after less than 90 minutes of deliberations, according to Bowman and Brooke LLP, the law firm representing Kia. The crash occurred when the vehicle was leaving a rural highway at close to 70 mph, it said.
