American Medical Systems To Pay $2.5M To Settle Patent Dispute With Mentor

Law360 (September 14, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Medical device maker American Medical Systems, Inc. will pay $2.5 million to Mentor Corporation to settle a lawsuit over a patent for the surgical treatment of female incontinence and prolapse, the companies said.

Both companies agreed to dismiss all litigation relating to Mentor's trans-obturator method patent, the companies said.

Under terms of the agreement, AMS will make a one-time payment to Mentor. The amount of the payment was undisclosed in a press release issued by the companies, but later reported in a form 8K regulatory filing...
