Jury To Decide Urban Outfitters Row Over T-Shirt Art

Law360 (January 3, 2011, 4:44 PM EST) -- A federal judge has rejected cross-bids for summary judgment filed by Urban Outfitters Inc. and a Brooklyn, N.Y.-based artist who claimed the company sold virtual likenesses of her work on T-shirts without her permission.

Judge Richard G. Stearns of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts denied the summary judgment bids Thursday, ruling that the motions themselves illustrate that the copyright battle is best left for a jury to decide.
