Mobil Sues Hyundai Unit Over Trademark

Law360, New York (April 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Oil giant ExxonMobil has sued Korean auto parts maker Hyundai Mobis for treading on Mobil’s famous logo and trading on its reputation.

The complaint, filed Wednesday in the Delaware federal court, argues the Mobis mark is, but for the last letter, identical to Mobil’s trademark.

Mobil argues the Mobis mark uses the same color scheme as the famous blue, red and white logo, is used to sell automotive products, and is “confusingly similar.”
