FDA Deputy Commissioner To Resign For Md. Job

Law360 (January 4, 2011, 2:04 PM EST) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration's deputy commissioner is reportedly leaving the agency to become head of Maryland's state public health department.

Deputy Commissioner Joshua Sharfstein intends to resign from his post to take the job as Maryland's Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing unnamed government officials familiar with the matter.
