UK To Investigate Ryanair's Buy Of Aer Lingus Stake

Law360, New York (January 4, 2011, 5:34 PM EST) -- The U.K.'s competition authority said Tuesday it would review Ryanair Holdings PLC's purchase of a minority stake in Aer Lingus Group PLC in 2006, saying the case could have wide-ranging consequences for merger regulation in the European Union.

The U.K.'s Office of Fair Trading said it has informed the Irish carrier that it believes it is within its rights to review the company's acquisition of the stake even though the transaction happened four years ago.
