Del. Diocese Ups Payout Offer For Sex Abuse Victims

Law360, New York (January 4, 2011, 8:00 PM EST) -- The Catholic Diocese of Wilmington said Tuesday that it would file an amended reorganization plan next week, giving its creditors — predominantly the alleged sexual abuse victims who have sued the diocese — a choice between an increased settlement and continuing litigation.

At a hearing in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, diocese attorney Robert S. Brady of Young Conaway Stargatt & Taylor said two reorganization plans will be filed by Jan. 10 and put to a creditor vote once the disclosure statement...
