House Lawmakers Urge DOI To Back Off Fracking Rules

Law360, New York (January 6, 2011, 5:50 PM EST) -- A group of lawmakers from the U.S. House of Representatives is urging Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar to hold off on new hydraulic fracturing rules until an inquiry into the safety of the natural gas extraction process is complete.

Reps. Tim Murphy, R-Pa., and Dan Boren, D-Okla., co-chairs of the Congressional Natural Gas Caucus, and 30 other House members sent a letter to Salazar on Wednesday asking him to "not institute any new regulatory burdens" until the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency completes its study....
