Skadden Reps China's Bluestar In $2B Elkem Purchase

Law360, New York (January 11, 2011, 1:24 PM EST) -- State-owned chemical giant China National Bluestar (Group) Co. Ltd. on Tuesday announced it had agreed to pay $2 billion to buy the Elkem division of Norwegian materials and energy company Orkla ASA, marking the latest acquisition for the Chinese company.

The deal  includes Elkem's silicon materials, carbon, foundry products and solar businesses. The units operate plants in Canada, Brazil, South Africa, China, Iceland and various locations in Scandinavia.
