Spire Sues Creganna Unit Over Catheter Flaws

Law360, New York (January 12, 2011, 6:16 PM EST) -- Medical device maker Spire Biomedical Inc. has sued supplier Catheter and Disposable Technology Inc., a unit of Creganna-Tactx Medical, for breach of contract, saying CDT's manufacturing errors forced a massive catheter recall and bungled a corporate deal.

Spire filed a breach of contract complaint Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts against CDT and its former parent company, Tactx Medical Inc. The suit claims CDT, which manufactured Spire-branded catheters, unilaterally changed some specifications, forcing a recall of over 50,000 hemodialysis catheters....
