Retired Fed. Circ. Chief Urges Piecemeal Patent Reform

Law360, New York (January 12, 2011, 5:18 PM EST) -- Retired U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit Chief Judge Paul R. Michel on Wednesday called for highly selective patent reform in 2011, focusing on the fee, funding and backlog problems the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is facing.

Patent reform is “the single most important issue facing the United States today” and will be key to lifting the nation's economy out of recession, Judge Michel said at a panel on patent reform hosted by the District of Columbia Bar.
