Paraplegic Worker Wins $21M Verdict Against DBI/Sala

Law360, New York (January 13, 2011, 7:57 PM EST) -- An iron worker involved in the construction of the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb., won a $21.1 million jury verdict Thursday for spinal injuries he sustained due to the alleged failure of a self-retracting lifeline manufactured by DBI/Sala.

The jury in the District Court of Douglas County, Neb., deliberated for one day before issuing its award, saying plaintiff Ronald “Tim” Bacon had met the burden of proof on his claim and that DBI/Sala had not met the burden of proof on any of its claimed defenses....
