GOP Grills BP Spill Panel Leaders Over Reforms

Law360, New York (January 26, 2011, 8:01 PM EST) -- The co-chairs of a presidential panel investigating the Deepwater Horizon oil spill went before Congress on Wednesday, fending off House Republican criticism that their suggested reforms would cost jobs and impede U.S. energy independence.

At a hearing before the House Committee on Natural Resources, former Sen. Bob Graham and William K. Reilly described systemic failures by regulators and the oil industry that informed their prescriptions for making off-shore oil drilling safer for workers and less likely to cause another catastrophic spill.
