Law360, New York (April 5, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Patricia Meador of Kennedy Covington didn’t plan on becoming an attorney. Not when her father, uncles and grandfather had all practiced law.

But after working for a while as a critical care nurse, she ended up going to law school anyway. But not because she hadn't considered at times attending medical school.

“My husband was in medical school, and it seemed complicated to have two people in medical school and then doing their residencies,” Meador said. “I thought law school would be a good graduate degree....
