Licensee Loses Bid For Part Of $150M Sony Settlement

Law360 (April 5, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A licensee that claims to have exclusive rights to patents at the heart of a $150 million dispute with Sony has lost a fight to sue the Japanese electronics maker for infringement.

In a decision handed down Wednesday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit affirmed a lower court’s dismissal of Internet Services LLC’s claim, ruling the company could not seek further damages following a settlement between Sony and the patent holder.
