Meynard's Boots Prompt Trademark Suit

Law360, New York (January 18, 2011, 1:23 PM EST) -- Footwear designer Meynard Designs Inc., which licenses Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to sell its Earth Spirit-Women’s Aspen Suede Boots and other products, has been stomped with a lawsuit alleging it is infringing the “Aspen” trademark.

Aspen Licensing International Inc., which owns the “Aspen” trademark, lodged its suit Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, alleging that Meynard acted knowingly and intentionally in misappropriating the trademark in an effort to profit off the goodwill established by the plaintiff.
