EU Postpones Emissions Review Until 2012

Law360, New York (January 19, 2011, 12:25 PM EST) -- The European Commission has again delayed revising air quality standards, opting to wait until 2012 or 2013 when it can pair new emissions rules with other upcoming climate change or industrial policy packages.

After debating the issue on Tuesday, the executive body agreed it needed to put forth a "renewed and comprehensive" air quality policy and revise its directive on national emissions limits, but decided it would be inefficient to propose changes as a stand-alone measure, Environment Commissioner Janez Potocnik said.
