CFTC Seeks To Streamline Agricultural Swaps

Law360, New York (January 20, 2011, 3:46 PM EST) -- The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission on Thursday proposed a final draft rule to streamline agricultural swap and commodity options contracts, even as one commissioner raised concerns about the agency's frenzied activity.

The commission voted 5-0 in favor of an interim final rule that would make agricultural swap and options contracts treated the same as other derivative contracts up for public comment. The proposed rule is part of the CFTC's massive rulemaking push mandated by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010....
