Russia Probes Gazprom Unit's Diesel Price Hike

Law360 (January 21, 2011, 11:58 AM EST) -- Russia's antitrust watchdog has launched a new probe into a unit of Gazprom Neft JSC based on concerns that the company hindered its competitors in order to hike wholesale diesel fuel prices late in 2010.

The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service decided to begin formally investigating Gazpromneft-Kuzbass CJSC on Tuesday after its office in the Kemerovo region in central Russia found indications that the company had "unreasonably increased" its wholesale prices for diesel fuel from late September through the end of November.
