Chevron Hit With Violation Notice Over Utah Oil Leak

Law360, New York (January 20, 2011, 6:32 PM EST) -- Chevron Corp. has been hit with a violation notice by Utah environmental regulators over 500 barrels of oil that leaked into the Salt Lake City area in December, the second spill in six months related to the same pipeline.

The notice, issued Wednesday by the Utah Department of Environmental Quality, instructs Chevron to submit a report detailing the cause of the Dec. 1 spill, which originated along a pipeline that runs through Salt Lake City.
