Food Industry Calls New Nutrition Labels Healthy Move

Law360, New York (January 25, 2011, 12:35 PM EST) -- A new label with nutritional information will soon start popping up on the front of food packages as part of what the food industry says is a commitment to encourage shoppers to make healthier choices.

The new labeling system, called Nutrition Keys, was announced by the Grocery Manufacturers Association on Monday, and consists of four simple icons displaying key pieces of nutritional information: number of calories and amounts of saturated fat, sodium and sugar per serving.
