House Panel Hits Obama On Regulatory Burden

Law360, New York (January 26, 2011, 2:31 PM EST) -- Obama administration official Cass Sunstein defended an executive order aimed at simplifying federal regulations to members of a House subcommittee on Wednesday, telling skeptical Republicans that the order’s primary goal is to reduce the regulatory burden on businesses.

Republicans criticized the order for not going far enough in reducing that burden, and perhaps creating more bureaucracy than it destroyed, during Wednesday’s hearing of the House Energy Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
