Judge Tosses Alaska Suit Over Arctic Drilling Ban

Law360, New York (January 25, 2011, 1:31 PM EST) -- A federal judge has tossed Alaska's lawsuit accusing the U.S. Department of the Interior of issuing an illegal ban on exploratory oil drilling in the Arctic, ruling that the federal government has not formally enacted the alleged moratorium.

Judge Ralph R. Beistline dismissed the suit with prejudice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska on Monday, granting the U.S. summary judgment and denying Alaska's bids for partial summary judgment and writs of mandamus.
