8th Circ. OKs Online Research Fees For Attys

Law360, New York (January 26, 2011, 4:57 PM EST) -- The Eighth Circuit on Wednesday tossed a shareholder's objection to attorneys' computer-assisted research costs in a massive stock-option backdating settlement with UnitedHealth Group Inc. executives.

The shareholder's objection to the research fees was not only filed too late, it didn't show that the costs for online legal research shouldn't be included in fee awards, according to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit's published opinion.
