Timber Groups Sue FWS Over Spotted Owl Plan

Law360, New York (January 26, 2011, 7:28 PM EST) -- The Carpenters Industrial Council and the American Forest Resource Council have sued the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in an attempt to block a new plan to preserve the endangered northern spotted owl's habitat.

The complaint, lodged in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Tuesday, alleges that the agency failed to comply with the Federal Advisory Committee Act by conducting secret meetings while trying to rewrite the 2008 northern spotted owl recovery plan.
