CORRECTED: S. Korea Fines CDT Makers For Cartel

Law360, New York (January 28, 2011, 3:49 PM EST) -- South Korea's antitrust watchdog has fined several units of Chunghwa Picture Tubes Ltd. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. approximately 26.3 billion won ($23.6 million) for allegedly running a decade-long cartel in the color display tube market.

The Korean Fair Trade Commission hit Samsung with the bulk of the penalties in the case on Thursday, fining its Samsung SDI Co. Ltd. unit just over 24 billion won for allegedly agreeing to fix prices and cut its production of the computer monitor technology from 1996 to 2006.
