DOL Goes After Connecticut Nursery

Law360, New York (April 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Labor has sued a plant nursery for violating minimum wage laws and its independent labor contractor for such things as illegally transporting migrant workers.

According to one of the complaints filed last week before the U.S. District Court in New Haven, Conn., the DOL charged Griffen Land & Nurseries Inc., the owner of Imperial Nurseries in Granby, Conn., with paying less than minimum wage and with failing to pay proper overtime.
