Colo. Mine Sparks Endangered Species Suit

Law360 (February 1, 2011, 1:46 PM EST) -- Environmental groups are asking a federal court to block a Colorado coal mining permit until U.S. regulators study the operation's potential effects on local fish and plant species.

The Center for Biological Diversity and other advocates filed suit Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, targeting U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement over alleged violations of the Endangered Species Act.
