Shrimpers, Importers Spar In ITC Over Dumping Duties

Law360, New York (February 1, 2011, 7:28 PM EST) -- Domestic shrimp producers and their allies asked the U.S. International Trade Commission on Tuesday to maintain anti-dumping duty orders on shrimp imported from several countries, while major importers argued the orders serve no purpose.

The hearing was part of a five-year sunset review of duties imposed on frozen warmwater shrimp shipped from Brazil, China, India, Thailand and Vietnam. The mandatory review will decide whether revoking duties on the shrimp imports could prompt renewed harm to the U.S. industry.
