Specialized Patent Courts Get IP Attys' Thumbs Up

Law360 (April 29, 2011, 5:59 PM EDT) -- While a federal pilot program aimed at enhancing select judges’ patent law expertise has drawn criticism from some quarters, attorneys expect participating district courts will emerge as popular forums that handle cases faster and bring greater predictability for patent litigants.

Despite worries that judges who opt in could become bogged down by heavy caseloads, the program aims to make complex patent litigation more efficient by steering cases to judges who have an interest in them.
