SEC's General Counsel To Step Down This Month

Law360, New York (February 2, 2011, 7:18 PM EST) -- U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission general counsel and former Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP partner David M. Becker has announced he will leave the agency to return to the private sector at the end of February.

Becker, who serves as senior policy director and general counsel at the SEC, played a role in shaping most of the agency's major policy and regulatory initiatives, and counseled the commission on virtually every matter that came before it during his tenure, the SEC said.
