Death Row Prisoners Sue FDA Over Thiopental Imports

Law360, New York (February 2, 2011, 7:38 PM EST) -- A half-dozen death row prisoners filed a lawsuit Wednesday entreating the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to stop allowing the importation of unapproved sodium thiopental, which is used to help carry out executions.

The FDA must deny admission to any drug, such as sodium thiopental, that is unapproved, misbranded or adulterated, according to the complaint, lodged in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
