Iberia Sues Ryanair Over Anti-Competitive Marketing

Law360, New York (April 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Ryanair Holdings PLC accused Iberia Lineas Aereas de Espana SA on Wednesday of trying to block competition by filing a €2 million suit against the low-cost Irish carrier following a publicity campaign in Barcelona.

The suit stems from a marketing campaign Ryanair launched in September 2006. The company promised free airline tickets to anyone in Barcelona’s Plaça de Catalunya who would say why they preferred flying with Ryanair rather than Iberia.
