Reliant Energy Accused Of Polluting River

Law360 (April 11, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An environmental group has filed a lawsuit against Reliant Energy Inc. alleging that a coal-fired power plant in Pennsylvania is dumping millions of gallons of wastewater tainted with dangerous concentrations of metals into a local river.

PennEnvironment, a nonprofit environmental advocacy group, filed the lawsuit Tuesday against Reliant Energy Inc. and Reliant Energy Northeast Management Company in federal court in Pennsylvania.

Reliant did not respond to a warning letter PennEnvironment sent in February, PennEnvironment Director David Masur said Wednesday.
