Sugar Coalition Slams ITC Tariffs Report

Law360, New York (February 8, 2011, 3:29 PM EST) -- A national coalition of sugarcane and sugar beet farmers has blasted the U.S. International Trade Commission for underestimating the potential harm that lifting sugar import tariffs would bring to the industry and the U.S. economy.

The American Sugar Alliance filed a brief Monday in the ITC's investigation, which seeks to analyze the economic effects of significant import restraints on U.S. consumers, workers and firms, as well as provide an overview of global supply chains and the economic forces behind them.
