MSI, IBT Bio Software Patent Deal Too Broad: Judge

Law360, New York (February 9, 2011, 6:57 PM EST) -- A federal judge has rejected a proposed settlement between Innovative Biometric Technology LLC and MSI Computer Corp. over a patented software system for biometrics, saying the language is too broad and could hamper the rights of other parties in the case.

Judge Kenneth L. Ryskamp of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Tuesday handed down the order denying the settlement, which sought to find the biometrics patent valid and dismiss all claims and defenses relating to the patent.
