Deutsche Boerse, NYSE Euronext In Merger Talks

Law360, New York (February 9, 2011, 4:26 PM EST) -- Deutsche Boerse AG and NYSE Euronext confirmed Wednesday that they are engaged in advanced discussions regarding a potential merger that would create a global trading behemoth with a market capitalization exceeding $24 billion.

New York-based NYSE, the owner of the New York Stock Exchange, issued a statement "in light of recent market rumors," but added that there cannot be any assurance that an agreement will be reached. The combined group would be the world’s largest exchange operator by revenues and profit, NYSE said.
