6th Circ. Backs UAW Reps' Conspiracy Convictions

Law360, New York (February 10, 2011, 6:09 PM EST) -- The Sixth Circuit on Thursday upheld the convictions of two United Auto Workers officials who allegedly extorted General Motors Corp. into giving union members jobs they weren't qualified for, and remanded the case for a potentially harsher resentencing.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit affirmed the convictions of Donny Douglas and Jay Campbell on conspiracy charges, but ruled that a lower court misapplied sentencing guidelines that landed the men six months house arrest and two years probation.
