Senators Unveil Bill To Overhaul Transit System

Law360, New York (February 10, 2011, 7:57 PM EST) -- Senior Democratic lawmakers reintroduced legislation Thursday to overhaul the nation’s crumbling transit system and drastically reduce transportation-generated carbon dioxide emissions.

Sens. John D. Rockefeller IV, D-W.Va., and Frank R. Lautenberg, D-N.J., unveiled the Federal Surface Transportation Policy and Planning Act of 2011, which would revitalize infrastructure initiatives that expired at the end of 2009 and recast the nation’s highway, waterway and rail systems.
