Metal Co. Partner Must Pay Up To $8.7M Over Cleanup

Law360, New York (February 11, 2011, 1:56 PM EST) -- A federal judge has found the one-time partner of a defunct metals company liable for up to $8.7 million in long-running litigation over a Superfund site in Troy, Ohio.

In an opinion issued Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, Judge Walter Herbert Rice sided with the government in finding that Larry Katz was a general partner with Caldwell Iron & Metal Co. when the business sent car, truck and industrial batteries to the United Scrap Lead Co.
