House Revives Bill To Ban Radioactive Waste Imports

Law360, New York (February 11, 2011, 1:31 PM EST) -- U.S. Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah, has introduced legislation to prohibit certain foreign-generated, low-level radioactive waste from being imported into the country for permanent disposal, after a similar measure died before being enacted in the last congressional session.

H.R. 617, introduced by Matheson in the U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday, would ban the importation of certain low-level radioactive waste into the U.S. The bill — which is being co-sponsored by Reps.
