Sen. Targets SEC, DOJ Relations In Criminal Probes

Law360, New York (February 11, 2011, 6:42 PM EST) -- Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, has asked authorities to explain the “big divide” between the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's stated policy and its actual practice in cooperating with the U.S. Department of Justice on securities fraud cases.

Grassley — the Senate Judiciary Committee's longest-serving member — said recent comments by SEC Director of Enforcement Robert Khuzami “sound the alarm for anyone concerned about the SEC being overly cozy with those it should be investigating.”
