Ex-Wal-Mart Worker Loses Suit Over Failed Drug Test

Law360, New York (February 14, 2011, 4:29 PM EST) -- In a case involving Wal-Mart Stores Inc., a federal judge has ruled that Michigan's medical marijuana law does not protect employees from being fired from their jobs for violating company drug policies.

Judge Robert J. Jonker of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan on Friday dismissed a suit against Wal-Mart by Joseph Casias, a former employee at the retail giant's Battle Creek, Mich., store who was fired in 2009 after testing positive for marijuana use.
