Study Warns Energy Drinks May Harm Children

Law360, New York (February 15, 2011, 5:45 PM EST) -- A study in the medical journal Pediatrics has taken energy drinks such as Red Bull to task for marketing to kids, finding the beverages may exacerbate cardiac conditions in young people, especially those with eating disorders.

The study, which Pediatrics published online Monday, surveyed medical literature to identify the potential problems energy drinks could cause among children and adolescents, analyze marketing and compile caffeine and energy-drink overdose data and other information.
