Reinsurer Off Hook For United Health's $28M Claim

Law360, New York (February 16, 2011, 2:16 PM EST) -- A federal judge has ruled that United Health Group Inc. is not entitled under a reinsurance agreement with Lexington Insurance Co. to $28.2 million to pay for legal bills and a settlement in an underlying breach of contract suit.

Judge Nancy Gertner of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts on Monday granted summary judgment to Lexington, finding that United Health had not provided the insurer with adequate notice of its claim for the $28.2 million.
