Medicare Drug Bill Passes Senate Committee

Law360, New York (April 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A controversial bill that would give the government the power to negotiate prescription drug prices has passed the Senate committee and will make its way to the floor by next week.

The Senate Finance Committee voted 13 to 8 on Thursday evening in favor of the Medicare Prescription Drug Price Negotiation Act of 2007, which mirrors a bill that passed the House of Representative in January.
