Ex-Swiss Banker Loses WikiLeaks Coercion Appeal

Law360, New York (February 17, 2011, 1:43 PM EST) -- Former Julius Baer Group employee Rudolf Elmer has lost his appeal of a decision finding him guilty of coercion and breaching bank secrecy for handing over account data from the bank's Cayman Islands trust subsidiary to WikiLeaks in 2007.

Elmer's attorneys announced on Wednesday that the Court of Appeals of the Canton of Zurich had dismissed the appeal.

Elmer will therefore remain in custody for the time being, his attorney Ganden Tethong said.
