Pfizer Appeals China's Decision To Overturn Viagra Patent

Law360, New York (September 27, 2004, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Pfizer Inc. will file an official appeal Tuesday against a decision by China's State Intellectual Property Office to overturn the U.S. drug maker’s patent for erectile-dysfunction drug Viagra, the Wall Street Journal’s Asian edition reported.

The appeal comes ahead of an Oct. 5 deadline and is a key component of Pfizer's strategy for regaining its Viagra patent, the newspaper reported, citing Beijing-based Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Ltd.'s chairman and general manager, E. Allan Gabor.
